Role Focus

We are seeking a Board member to help lead and strengthen FoPB’s fundraising, membership, and donor engagement efforts. Experience and interests include:

• Fundraising strategy and planning, including individual giving and membership programs

• Donor cultivation, stewardship, and relationship-building

• Annual appeals, special campaigns, or project-based fundraising

• Working with or supporting a Development Committee

• Helping set fundraising goals and track progress

This Board member will play a leadership role in shaping FoPB’s fundraising approach and strengthening the organization’s long-term financial sustainability.

Who Should Consider This?

This role may be a good fit for individuals with experience in development, advancement, nonprofit leadership, or relationship-based fundraising who are comfortable helping secure resources for a mission they believe in.

Role Focus

FoPB is seeking a Board member with environmental or marine science literacy and/or strong connections within the local scientific community to help strengthen the organization’s science-based work and advocacy.

Experience and interests include:

• Background in environmental science, marine science, coastal ecology, fisheries science, or related fields, and/or

• Professional relationships with scientists, research institutions, or environmental organizations

• Advising on science-based initiatives, monitoring efforts, or research partnerships

• Supporting or helping lead FoPB’s standing Science Committee

• Translating scientific research into clear guidance for decision-making, public education, and advocacy
  

As FoPB expands its scientific partnerships and advocacy efforts to protect Pleasant Bay, this expertise is increasingly critical to the organization’s success.

Who Should Consider This?

Role Focus

We are seeking a Board member with practical, hands-on communications and marketing skills to help strengthen FoPB’s outreach and visibility.

Experience and interests include:

• Writing and editing content for newsletters, email, websites, or social media

• Email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact (or similar tools)

• Basic graphic design and layout using Canva or comparable platforms

• Supporting brand consistency across print and digital materials

• Advising on communications strategy and audience engagement

• Simple website knowledge a plus
  

This Board member will work closely with FoPB’s volunteer Communications Committee, providing both strategic guidance and hands-on support.

Who Should Consider This?

This role may be a good fit for professionals or volunteers with backgrounds in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or graphic design who enjoy helping small organizations communicate clearly and effectively.

Experience & interests include:

• Experience with membership or annual giving programs

• Familiarity with CRM/database platforms such as Little Green Light (or similar systems)

• Managing and analyzing membership data and renewal trends

• Member acquisition and retention strategies

• Overseeing acknowledgment processes and member communications

• Improving systems, workflows, and data accuracy

• Collaboration with Development and Communications committees

• Strong organization and attention to detail
