Katy Sherer

Katy Sherer has been on the Board of Friends of Pleasant Bay and a member of our Science and Governance Committees since 2023. In 2025, Katy became Chair of the Science Committee. Katy also is the President of the Chatham Chorale, a non-profit choral music group, and a member of the Chatham Community Housing Partnership, an advisory board to Chatham’s Select Board. Before moving to Chatham in 2023, Katy lived in Woodbury, Connecticut, where she served—at different times—on the Charter Revision Commission, Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Commission. Katy also served on the Boards of Trustees for the Mark Twain House and Museum and the Connecticut Opera.

Katy discovered the beauty of Pleasant Bay—and the joys of sailing—when she took an adult sailing class at Chatham Yacht Club in 2021. Since then, Katy has spent a significant amount of time each summer on and around the Bay, honing her skills as a sailor and enjoying the beauty of this important natural resource.



Katy is a graduate of Harvard College and Cornell Law School. She spent most of her career in the legal department of Stanley Black & Decker, Inc., and now works part-time on special projects for publicly traded companies.
